Child Support

Child Support is considered to be a right of the child. The payment of child support is considered mandatory. Child support is typically paid based on the child support guidelines which is a mathematical formula that takes into account the number of children and the income of the payor parent.

In addition to child support payable under the child support guidelines, a payor parent is also required to contribute to extraordinary expenses based on a proportion of his or her income relative to the other parent.
